Claudia Eder, Mezzo-Soprano

Claudia Eder was born in Augsburg and studied voice and violoncello. Her career has led her to opera houses in such cities as Wiesbaden, Düsseldorf, and Vienna and to major concert stages around the world. She has been Professor of Vocal Studies at the School of Music at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz since 1988. In 2006, Claudia Eder was the first female artist to win an award from the Academy of Sciences and Literature in Mainz. Her Department of Vocal Studies received the 2009 award for outstanding achievements in teaching, learning, and artistic development of the Rhineland-Palatinate Excellence Competition. Claudia Eder is a member of the University Council of JGU, a fellow of the Gutenberg Research College, and the Mainz Academy of Sciences and Literature.
